As a wildlife/landscape artist I have no problem with finding inspiration for my paintings right out of my back door.

Dan is a Luthier with a small shop located near the town of Cape Charles, Virginia. His passion is guitars and woodworking; when not building, repairing or playing guitars he is creating small items from wood in his shop. Dan grew up in a house with guitars: his father was a working musician and the inspiration for pursuing this craft. Jam sessions and rehearsals were commonplace at home growing up. That environment got him started customizing his own guitars, repairing friend's guitars and finally building his own guitars. Dan offers the following services to the residents of the Eastern Shore of Virginia:
- One of a kind handcrafted acoustic, electric and resonator guitars.
- Repair services for all stringed instruments.
- Customized work on guitars, basses, banjos, ukuleles, mandolins and more.
- Restorations of vintage string instruments.

Nancy Murphy

As an artist, I draw inspiration from the coastal beauty surrounding Cape Charles, Virginia. My paintings often feature nautical and shoreline themes, capturing scenes like beaches, birds, and marine life. I also love experimenting with more whimsical subjects, such as abstract figures or everyday items like alcohol. I use bold colors and a playful yet detailed approach, balancing realism with creative expression. A desire to try something new prompted me to sign up for a 2-hour Facebook painting class. A passion was ignited when I discovered a hidden talent I didn't know existed. It's been non-stop since. What started as a time filler turned into a blessing. To date, I have sold hundreds of original paintings.
I started using a yellow dot in my signature to signify my painting was finished, like a period at the end of a sentence. I loved the way it dressed it up and added a touch of whimsy.

I make work in a wide variety of media. Most of this has been used to support my exhibit design for the Barrier Islands Center Museum. I often use painted canvas floorcloths to define a space in the museum. The painted canvas is also used for murals and wall coverings to create historic vignettes. Sometimes I make animals or other items from papier mache` as part of the exhibits. Whenever possible I include plant and animal subjects which are native to the Eastern Shore of Virginia. In this way I seek to document the remarkable natural world which surrounds us.
